Arne Slot’s team emerged victorious against Crystal Palace with a 2-1 win, climbing to fourth place in the Premier League and overtaking Aston Villa.

Liverpool prevailed at home against Crystal Palace, winning 2-1 in the 34th round of the Premier League. The Reds added three points to their tally in the English championship and climbed to fourth place in the standings with a total of 58 points, surpassing Aston Villa.

Thus, the Reds are increasingly close to securing a Champions League spot for next season.

The game began with opportunities shared by both teams. A highlight was a play in the 24th minute where Liverpool could have benefited from a penalty kick due to Brennan Johnson’s sliding tackle. The referee consulted VAR to confirm the play, but nothing was given.

After half an hour of play, Liverpool had a dangerous chance through Salah, before the goal arrived in the 35th minute. In a persistent attack, the ball reached Mac Allister at the edge of the area and the midfielder shot, although his shot was off target. Therefore, Alexander Isak intervened, touching the ball and shooting into the back of the net.

After the 1-0, Liverpool capitalized on the momentum from the goal to maintain their dominance with a noticeable superiority, which eventually led to another goal for the Reds.

Following a corner, Crystal Palace pressed and came close to equalizing, were it not for a fine save by Freddie Woodman. The Liverpool goalkeeper reacted well and launched his team on a counter-attack until Curtis Jones released Andrew Robertson deep.

The full-back, who has already announced he will leave the team at the end of the season, shot across goal and finished with quality to make it 2-0.

In the second half, Liverpool played well and managed to maintain their lead, although Crystal Palace threatened in the 70th minute with a powerful shot from Ismaila Sarr that was well saved by Woodman. However, in response, the visitors’ goal did indeed come, through Daniel Munoz.

With the score at 2-1, Crystal Palace gained momentum and believed that victory was possible. Nevertheless, Liverpool maintained their lead and managed to hold onto it until the end of the game. Furthermore, they even managed to score the decisive goal in stoppage time.

In the 90+7th minute, Florian Wirtz picked up the ball and unleashed a great curling shot to score the third goal in style.
