British journalist Ben Jacobs, a transfer market specialist, dropped a bombshell this Sunday morning by reporting that Bradley Barcola has informed Paris Saint-Germain he has absolutely no intention of renewing his current contract, which runs until June 2028.
The 23-year-old reportedly made this decision just before departing for North America to compete in the World Cup with France. He contributed three goals and an assist to a campaign that ended in a fourth-place finish following a 4–6 loss to England in the final match.
Negotiations between the two parties had dragged on for months—to the forward’s frustration—leading him to conclude it is time to seek a different path. That path could lead to Liverpool, a club that has been following the entire process closely.
However, the same source adds that the reigning European champions have made it clear they will only part ways with the creative player for a fee in the region of €170 million. They base this valuation on the two most “outrageous” transfers of the summer window so far.
Those deals involved Morgan Rogers (Aston Villa to Chelsea) and Elliot Anderson (Nottingham Forest to Manchester City), both hovering around the €135 million mark. For the French club, however, Barcola belongs in a higher tier given his track record, strong World Cup performance, and potential for further development. For his part, Luis Enrique has reportedly promised not to stand in the way of the young prospect’s departure, given that he only wants “players committed to PSG” in his squad and refuses to “guarantee anyone a spot in the starting XI”—meaning the deal is genuinely likely to go ahead.
