Portuguese tennis player Jaime Faria failed to win the title at the Mauthausen tournament today, losing in three sets to Russian Roman Safiullin in the final of the Austrian Challenger circuit event on clay.
Jaime Faria, ranked 136th in the world and seventh seed in Mauthausen, was defeated by a player ranked 40 places lower in the ATP rankings, where he occupies 176th place, by scores of 4-6, 6-4 and 7-6 (7-4), after two hours and 25 minutes of play.
Safiullin, who this season already won the Oeiras 3 Challenger in Portugal, prevented Jaime Faria, 22, from winning his third individual title on the secondary circuit in Austria and his first in 2026, after having won in Oeiras and Curitiba, Brazil, both in 2024.
