Real Madrid remains mathematically alive (albeit narrowly) in the fight for the Spanish Championship title, thanks to their victory last Sunday against Espanyol at the RCDE Stadium, 2-0, with two goals from Vinícius Júnior in the 55th and 66th minutes of the game.
The Brazilian international was, in fact, in the spotlight for both the best and the worst reasons, as the cameras of the Spanish television station Movistar Plus+ captured, in detail, the various arguments he had with opposing players, particularly with the Moroccan Omar El Hilali, throughout the match corresponding to the 34th round of La Liga.
“Stop this nonsense. Just ask me to swap shirts with you. You’re stupid. Do you want to fight?”, he said on one occasion. In another ball dispute, he shouted: “Wait, the ball is stopped and you’re already grabbing me. But why do you have to push me? You’re always pushing me. I’m calm, man.”
“Idiot. You’re an idiot, an idiot. You’re an idiot,” he said later, before continuing the banter with Carlos Romero, the left-back of the Catalan team, regarding the constant ‘disagreements’ he had with his teammate on the pitch: “He does those stupid things to appear on television.”
“You’re going back to the second division, man,” added the 25-year-old forward, closer to the final whistle. In between, he even addressed the opposing coach, Manolo González: “You have to substitute him, they’re going to send him off.”
El Clásico Could Decide La Liga
With only four matchdays remaining (equivalent to 12 points), Barcelona maintains its sole lead in La Liga with 88 points, 11 more than second-placed Real Madrid. This means the Spanish league title could be decided this coming weekend.
More specifically, in the highly anticipated… El Clásico, which will pit Barça against Real Madrid at 8:00 PM (Portugal Continental time) on Sunday, May 10th, at Camp Nou. In this case, a draw against Álvaro Arbeloa’s team will be enough for the team managed by Hans-Dieter Flick to secure the title.
The Blaugrana team will also face Alavés (at the Estadio de Mendizorroza), Real Betis (at Camp Nou), and Valencia (at the Estadio de Mestalla).
